Kids Get Arthritis, Too!

For the past several years, I have taken on the challenge to make a difference in our community by participating in the Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Walk. Thousands of people across the country will join together to help improve the lives of 46 million Americans, including and especially the 300,000 children, who are affected by doctor-diagnosed arthritis. The Arthritis Walk is led by inspirational men, women and children with arthritis. I hope that you can support my efforts.

As many of you may know, my 16 year old sister Emily was diagnosed with arthritis just before her 3rd birthday. Since linking up with the Arthritis Foundation in the late 1990s, my family has become educated, networked, and, ultimately, heavily involved. Emily now knows that she is not alone, that there are other kids like her, and my parents have found other parents who have been through similar experiences. Without the fundraising efforts of such events as the Arthritis Walk, the benefits that my family have received through the Foundation would not have been possible.

You say you want to help? Just by taking the time to read this, you have taken the first step- knowledge is power. The next step is helping the Arthritis Foundation find new ways to prevent, control, and even cure the more than 100 forms of arthritis and related diseases. You can do this by helping me reach my goal, and it's an easy way for you to become personally involved. Together, we can improve lives.
